June 26nd, 2017. From May 10th to May 12th 2017, more than 160 international guests attended SCHNEIDER's DigiCON 2017 in Frisco, Texas, USA.

In the course of the two-day event, the company known for its innovation presented a range of new products for ophthalmic surfacing, cleaning, coating and edging.

A special focus of DigiCON 2017 was on the intelligent and highly-integrated Modulo Line that continues to be a great success for SCHNEIDER. The Modulo idea was born in 2008, the first cognitive machines were introduced 2012, to be followed by the smart conveyor system and the "brilliant mind inside" the revolutionary Modulo Control Center. Modulo has come a long way since with a number of installations worldwide. "Far more than 20 million lenses have been produced on Modulo systems, and there are several new installations on the way," said Gunter Schneider, founder and president of the SCHNEIDER group. "Modulo is a real-life testimony to trending concepts like industry 4.0. And our newest developments like CMMS Modulo are taking us beyond - we call it 'Industry 4.1.'"

SCHNEIDER's brand new virtual service management system was introduced in a live performance on stage. SCHNEIDER employees presented how preventive and reactive maintenance will be handled with utmost efficiency in the near future. "The system will serve as a source of intelligence on how to do maintenance and troubleshoot best. It also includes maintenance plans, step-by-step guides, parts packages, and live virtual reality support when needed" announces Gunter Schneider "This way SCHNEIDER is increasing uptime significantly and boosting efficiency."

In Coating, SCHNEIDER presented their range of AR-coating solutions for mid-sized and large labs along with the dip hard coating systems to match them. Demonstrating uncompromised production at smallest footprint, SCHNEIDER premiered the two newest additions to the Nano Line, SHC nano and RPT nano, now also offering spin hard coating and fast response AR-coating.

In Edging, SCHNEIDER presented its true four axis edger HSE Modulo equipped with a new high-precision measurement system. The edger provides higher flexibility and allows for edging of highly complex shapes meeting various fashion requirements along with very high speed production capability. Other highlights were the presentation of CCB modulo and DTS modulo, the first complete solution for non-alloy blocking and deblocking, promising to be a real alternative to today's alloy solutions. For the first time, a LCU Modulo brush cleaner was shown. Its fully automated in line process provides lenses ready for coating. In a future outlook, Gunter Schneider showed the audience how the SCHNEIDER team intends to "keep their eyes on the ball" - e.g. with the fastest generator in the market HSC Modulo XTS to be premiered at Vision Expo West.
