SCHNEIDER achieved something very similar. Superior technology was transferred from ultra-precision to ophthalmics to elevate a new one-of-a-kind generator: the HSC Modulo XT.
The bundle of exceptionally dynamic new motor philosophy, newly designed high frequency drive technology, new bearing systems, the fastest milling technology and a very rigid machine base are shaping this ultra-performer. The result is superior design replication at an unmatched speed for generating even the most complex lenses in the shortest time.
New guidings and spindles
The HSC Modulo XT is available in two versions, the basic version utilizing a mechanic linear guiding system or the extended technology version that is working with superior hydrostatic guidings. Together with a newly developed high-performance lens spindle best surface smoothness is achieved.
Most robust design and machine base
Super high speed production increases the dynamic demands on the machine structure. For this reason, special attention has been paid to the rigidity of the kinematic arrangement. Each quality influencing component underwent a simulation and design phase to guarantee highest machine stiffness and process stability – even when faced with extreme forces. Best preconditions for highest throughput at best quality.
New highly dynamic motors
The intelligent motor concept of the Modulo XT comes with two highly dynamic motors. The entirely new X-tec motor greatly enhances the acceleration of previous generators, thus allowing for the best ever replication of lens designs. In addition, the machine features the proven RS-tec motor, which has become a benchmark for its high robustness and uptime. Enhanced process management options can be achieved using the RS-tec motor in its Twin Tool design. Ultimately allowing the HSC Modulo XT to select the perfect individual combination of milling and turning processes to meet the lens requirements with highest speed.
Exceptional speed and accuracy can only be guaranteed through the perfect synchronization of technological components, particularly the controllers. Merging an unsurpassed level of communication frequency and a unique multi-level signal modulation, SCHNEIDER induces new capabilities to control motor movements with utmost precision. The result is lowest form error and signal noise which results in best geometrical accuracy and lowest surface roughness.
High-performance milling spindle
As the generator throughput is defined by both milling and turning, the HSC Modulo XT also features a new milling system. The new highperformance milling spindle possesses a high axial and radial stiffness and runs with incredibly high speed, milling lenses faster than ever. In order to control the swarf flow inside the machine, the milling chamber was separated from the remaining working space. The swarf is channeled to the outlet – the working chamber stays clean.
Integrated measurement system
The Calibration and Verification System, CVS, makes it easy to align the tools during the setup of the machine. In the production mode, the CVS feature offers the ability to run a lens quality audit at any time. So you can assure that your process runs in spec – lens after lens.
The Modulo advantage
HSC Modulo XT comes with an on-board global interface philosophy that allows connection to the Modulo system. Once connected to the LMS Modulo and management cockpit, the generator works as an integral part of this one-of-a-kind system solution and is subject to the centralized monitoring and control center. The lab manager is fully informed about the current status of the machine. Therefore critical situations and downtime can be avoided before they arise. Higher uptimes and increased yields are guaranteed.
