Hessian Business Innovation Award given to Schneider Opticmachines

Individual progressive lenses manufactured using the HSC Master — Innovation from Hesse for a clear view worldwide

By winning the Hessian Business Innovation Award, Schneider Opticmachines has established its position as the forerunner of cutting edge innovators in Hesse. On November 16th,  Schneider’s president Gunter Schneider received the award in Frankfurt, Germany.
Only three weeks earlier, the company had already won the business award “Hesse Champion 2006” for its world-leading position in the market for optical machinery.

The jury gave the award for the new HSC Master generator. The generator enables manufacturing of individual progressive lenses with quality and productivity unknown thus far in an industrial environment.

Today’s progressive lenses make use of a small pre-curved range of semi-finished lenses and materials which are further processed to fit to the eye-sight correction of the customer as best as possible. The satisfaction of the eye glass wearer varies depending on the specific correction data and its manufacturing process.
Using the HSC Master, it becomes a reality to generate the truest optimal lens for each individual customer uniquely. Every accessible data of the customer, like pupil distance and face-form angle, are taken into account for a digital file which is transferred by the HSC Master to become a next-to-perfect lens in less than a minute. The eye glass wearer enjoys a significant larger range of sharp vision compared to today’s progressives.

Customer interest in the HSC master is tremendous due to the very attractive global market for individual progressives. Receiving its premiere at the international trade shows in Milan/Italy, Paris/France and Orlando/Florida, numerous orders of the global leading lens manufacturers have already been received. “The market share of individual progressive lenses is going to rise up to some 8% of total eyewear within the next few years. This results in a market potential of more than 50 million individual progressive lenses per year”, Gunter Schneider explains.

More than 90% of the company’s products are delivered to international customers. Besides Europe, Schneider’s customers mainly manufacture in Asia and the North America. The installation and service are supported by local employees. Subsidiaries are in operation in Dallas/Texas and Singapore.

„We are proud to have won the award, demonstrating our innovation strength and leading position in the optical machine building“ says Gunter Schneider. He adds: “For us, the main benefit of the Hessian Business Innovation Award is to become well-known for young and talented graduates in Germany. The recruiting of talented people will continue to be the base for a successful future of our company.”
